What We Do

At The Community Kitchen, we believe that no one should go hungry, and since 1983, we’ve been more than just a meal provider; we’re a lifeline for the Monadnock Region. Our dedicated team and countless volunteers work tirelessly to create a supportive environment where everyone is welcomed with compassion and respect.

Through hot meals, food pantries, and innovative programs, we strive to empower individuals and families, fostering hope and resilience in the fight against hunger.

At The Community Kitchen, we believe that every meal shared has the power to forge connections and build community. Our journey began in 1983 with a simple yet profound vision: to ensure that no one in our region would face the harsh reality of hunger alone. From those humble beginnings, we have grown into a vital resource for countless individuals and families, nurturing not just their bodies, but their spirits as well.

Every day, our dedicated volunteers bring warmth and compassion into our kitchen. They are the heart of our organization, serving meals with a smile and kindness. This spirit of giving resonates through every hot meal prepared and every box of food distributed, transforming lives, one plate at a time. Their commitment, alongside the generous support from local restaurants and businesses, enables us to meet the growing needs of our community.

In our steadfast quest to combat food insecurity, we continually adapt our programs to respond to the needs of our clients. The Gleaning Project exemplifies this adaptability, allowing us to collaborate with local farms and agencies to bring fresh produce to those who need it most. By sharing the bounty of our agricultural community, we not only alleviate hunger but also promote healthy eating habits.

Join us in this vital mission, and together, let’s nourish our community and build a brighter future for all.

The Community Kitchen’s Mobile Pantry program tackles the issue of transportation barriers by bringing resources directly to communities in need. By collaborating with local stakeholders, we identify suitable spaces and train volunteers to efficiently distribute food, ensuring that our guests can easily access the essential resources they require. This targeted approach allows us to extend our reach and address food insecurity closer to home for our guests that can not get to Keene.

As we look ahead to the future, we recognize the importance of community support in fulfilling our mission. We invite you to join us as we work together to build food security in the Monadnock Region. Whether through volunteering your time, making a financial contribution, or simply spreading the word, your involvement makes a difference. Together, we can continue to cultivate a strong, resilient community where everyone has access to the nourishment they deserve.

What we do is simple, but how we do it is complicated.

In 2024, we distributed enough food for over 427,824 meals. To accomplish this, we relied on the support of:

      • Thousands of individual, corporate, and foundation monetary donors
      • Hundreds of dedicated volunteers
      • 15 major food donors
      • 14 passionate staff
